“刻~KOKU~,” the special jewellery iPhone5/5s case
using jewellery manufacturing techniques,
one of the traditional industries of Yamanashi, Japan. -
刻(KOKU) means “time,” the motif.
This is not just a case but an accessory,
as the design is based on
the shape of a diamond ring.
The figures of diamonds like a clock
indicate the long periods of time of
the sophisticated methods based on
traditional techniques.
This design also includes Mt. Fuji,
the symbol of Japan,
registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site
in 2013. -
We have also arranged
original ring
made of yellow gold.
Once you put the ring,
you can enjoy
the matching
with your luxury case.
- About Production Techniques
- by Akiyama Co., Ltd. CEO Yutaro Akiyama
Akiyama Co., Ltd is one of the jewellery factories producing earrings,
bracelets and pendants, based in Yamanashi, Japan, established in 1948.
This case is made mainly using casting techniques.
So far, it is difficult to manufacture large and flat shaped items
with exactly fixed sizes such as iPhone cases
because the materials tend to shrink during the casting process.
We usually use fire for welding,
however, the flat surface of materials easily loses its sheen if do so.
So we had to find an innovative method with our skilled workers.
After trial and error,
we finally came up with brand new casting method without using fire.
In addition to that, there were many other problems,
such as smoothening rough surface caused from the casting process,
control the exact shape to fit iPhone, etc.
but we could get over with our knowledge and techniques.
We hope you can feel our effort and passion,
not only the design and techniques.
